Communicating effectively isn’t only about words and body language ⬇️ It also includes… behaviors actions habits How we act during both the highs and lows of sport can play a role in what message is being received from our teammates, players, coaches, parents, etc. So much of learning comes from observation, so considering how our behaviors align with our words can act as the first step for shifting team culture, connection, and trust 💥 #mentalperformance #mental #sportpsychology #maine #sport
Behind the scenes!📸 No two days are the same at Stride and that’s one of my favorite parts! Some days are filled with client consults, sessions, or admin. Or a mix of everything! To build consistency in a schedule that often varies I love to lean on my prep routines (MPCs use these skills too!) Noticing and tapping into our 5 senses can help ground us in times of stress, worry, or unhelpful thoughts. 5️⃣ - Spot 5 things in your environment and pay attention to their details 4️⃣ - Shift focus to 4 noises around you and notice the source 3️⃣ - Identitfy 3 things you feel and concentrate on your sense of touch 2️⃣ - Smell 2 distinct smells in your space and name the scent 1️⃣ - Pay attention to 1 thing you can taste or sip some water and reset to the present Brief moments. Quick reset! 🔄 When we notice unhelpful self-talk or distracting thoughts, we have a choice in how we respond to the noise The noise might be loud… Before a game After a mistake During a hard training session Against a tough opponent But, once we notice it, we can pause, release it through a breath(s), and refocus on something in the present moment (externally!) Then, commit and respond in the next play. #mental #mentalperformance #sport #maine #selftalk
